Writing for Online Magazines

Anyone who has explored the Internet for making a full time income will realize that it is not as easy as  some people make it sound. I see testimonials on some freelance writing sites that say that they made$80,000 during the very first year and I am often confused. If it were that easy, everyone would turn to the internet and work at home in their PJs. The truth is, it is not that easy to make a full time income, writing for online magazines. A few may have achieved it overnight, but for many, it is a path to follow for some time  before a level of success can be achieved.

If your goal in writing for online magazines is to get a byline without any payment, there are many outlets available. Lots of online sites publish articles giving credit to the author’s name, without making any payment. It gets more difficult when payment is involved, and even more difficult when decent payment is involved. It is one thing to make $10 per article, but a totally different matter to earn $100 or more per article from writing for online magazines.

Don’t quit your day job just yet. Hold on to the job that you have (if you have one). If you don’t, and you are interested in writing for online magazines for a living, then, start  a full time online hunt for a job. It takes a while to find the reliable places. If you have someone who can do the research for you, so much the better, but few of us have that luxury.  The best thing is for you to do the hunt yourself. Go to search engines like Google and Yahoo. Type “Freelance Writing Sites, “writing for Online Magazines” and other key words that are related to your interests. Sometimes you may have to go through several pages of the  Google entries and not just the very first page. Go through these sites carefully. If there is contact information, write to them and ask if they pay for writing for online magazines.
