Finding an Online Job to Work FromHome April 04, 2009

Dear friend,
Until age 25 I was busy
getting my college degrees. I thought that after I got a Master's in
Music, it would be fairly easy to find a cushy job that paid well.
Sometimes I think the media overrates college degrees, because I
sure couldn't find a job that came even close to my degree. I spent ten
years doing all kinds of jobs from receptionist to lifting carpet, in
order to pay my bills. All along, though, I cultivated my passion for
writing as a side income. By the time my baby was born I had published
two books with Entrepreneur.com and over 500 magazine articles.
With the recession I got laid off from all three jobs that I had. I
decided to stop applying for site-specific jobs. I made up my
mind to work online from home. I wanted to stay at home with my baby
rather than have a nanny take care of her. There was another reason. I
was tired of working at offices with dysfunctional bosses and surviving
the office politics.
Working at home has paid off. I love it. I have no intentions of working
in an office again - unless I really have to.
You, too, can work online and earn a living. Be advised though, the money
may not pour in like a torrential rain at first, but, it will come.
Building an online persona takes time. The time to start is now.
If you are seeking more specific guidance on how to work online from
home, please request a copy of my latest book titled Recession and
Rebuilding Our Lives, by World Audience Publishers. It provides
practical, financial, and spiritual tips for getting your life back on track
during difficult times. You can e-mail me at info@giftedhandswriting.com
for a copy.
Thank you for your membership. Please recommend our site to others.

How to
Get Started with an Online Work at Home Job
Just
the basics of living have become so costly that many can't afford to
their mortgage today. Keeping the lights on, the phone on and food on
table are starting to feel like luxuries with the income crunch. Finding
your legitimate online business is becoming one of the best ways to earn
an extra income. Here are some tips:
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Think multiple streams of income. For example, if
you are a writer, don't write to just one website to earn $100 a week;
write to four or more.
Your resume and cover letter should be ready. Apply for a work at home job with a resume and cover
letter, like any other job. Make your resume and cover letter look
stellar.
Start small and think big. Don't expect to make $50,000 a year, within the
first six months after you start working at home. This will not happen.
You may not earn a steady
income right away, but eventually, if you hold on to it, the money will
come.
Hold on to your day
job. Adjust your budget before
you quit your regular job. In my case, I was working online for a side
income for five years, before the recession claimed my day jobs.
Deal with loneliness in a healthy way. It can be lonely working at home. Have a network of
friends and activities. It can be hard on your child(ren). They get
lonely and bored too. Make sure you are ready with things to entertain
them and maybe even playgroups.
Be ready to be pulled in a million directions. Work at home is for the multi-tasker. Sometimes
I have had to switch off the stove, answer the phone, caress my baby to
sleep, and type an article at the same time. It gets overwhelming in a
way.
In
the end, it all boils down to choices that we make/or not make to
arrive at a destination.

Dear friends,
Yesterday, I received some
exciting news. World Audience Publishers, in NY, sent my latest book Recession
and Rebuilding our Lives into print. This book fleshes
out my journey of getting slammed by the recession in more ways than
one and starting life from scratch. It is about finding opportunity in an
economic downturn.
Many of you may be in some
form of silent desperation, like a duck freely floating on the surface,
but constantly kicking its feet to remain on the surface. There is
always hope. Things will get better. Never give up.
Thank you for staying
aboard. We love having each and every one of you.
Sincerely,
Preethi Burkholder, Editor
